A meeting on "Current situation of paddy rice-growing and future tasks" was held in Agdash district

A meeting on "Current situation and future challenges of paddy farming" was organized by the Agrarian Science and Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agdash State Agrarian Development Center. The goal is to develop the selection and breeding of paddy in the country. The event was attended by the director of the institute Faig Khudayev, the head of the department Abdin Abdullayev and the head of the laboratory Sevil Abasguliyeva. Scientists of the institute gave recommendations on the development of paddy-growing in the region and the acquisition of new varieties of seeds. At the same time, it is planned to restore local varieties, eliminate dependence on imports and produce export-oriented products in the future.

The director of the institute, F.Khudayev, said that the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Inam Karimov, gave instructions at the meeting on paddy growing on the development of paddy breeding, as well as the organization of primary seed production. In this regard, our goal is to help farmers engaged in paddy farming, taking into account the problems they face.

In addition, the challenges faced by farmers, the search for solutions and the improvement of material well-being are among the priorities. It is also planned to obtain varieties with high potential adapted to the local climate.

S.Abasguliyeva noted that according to the state program, we want to do a lot to organize seed-growing in different regions of the country in order to make this work easier for farmers.

One of the main conditions is to get more products at the expense of a single area. In this regard, the proposals made by scientists were of interest to farmers. Acquisition of new rice varieties and planting of more suitable ones for the region will increase both productivity and income.

Experts say that although paddy cultivation in the country was once at a record level, the decline in paddy cultivation over the past 40-50 years has also reduced interest in the field. In 2014, paddy was included in the mandate of  Research Institute of Crop Husbandry, and the state is working to increase production.

Farmer Amil Musayev thanked scientists and specialists for their assistance in developing paddy farming in Agdash region.
