The IX international conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Academician Jalal Aliyev was held

On 17.12.18, the IX International Conference on "Photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy Research for Sustainable Development" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of academician Jalal Aliyev was held at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), a prominent scientist and public figure, honored scientist, doctor of biological sciences. Along with Azerbaijani scientists, the conference was attended by the leadership and scientific staff of the Research Institute of Crop Husbandry, scientists from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Turkey, Iran and other countries.

Prior to the event, participants of the conference came to the Alley of Honor to commemorate the distinguished scientist's grave and laid wreaths and roses in front of his grave. Academician Akif Alizadeh, president of ANAS, who opened the conference, spoke about the rich scientific activity of the prominent scientist and the way of life he passed. President of ANAS noted that Jalal Aliyev school was established in our country based on scientific-practical basis, which was chosen by the leading position in the field of plant selection. The achievements made by the scientist in the field of photosynthesis research and achievements have been highly appreciated by the world scientific community.

"Academician Jalal Aliyev laid the foundation for the development of molecular biology and gene biotechnology by developing research in biology in Azerbaijan. The prominent scientist has identified new directions of agrarian science in Azerbaijan and the application of its results has led to sustainable development in this area. Based on the research of the academician, productive, high quality wheat varieties were grown; their physiological and biochemical bases were developed. Jalal Aliyev is known as "Bereketli 95", "Garabagh", "Ezemetli 95", "Gobustan", "Girmizy gul 1", "Tale 38" and "Leyagetli 80" wheat varieties cultivated in our country. Agricultural Research and Research Institute, Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ADAU) held series of events. The collection of scientific works of the Institute of Agricultural Scientific Research, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding scientist, has been published. The publication of “Agrar Elm(Agrarian Science)” magazine and "Kend heyati(Rural Life)" newspaper devoted to the scientific and social-political activity of academician Jalal Aliyev. ADAU has created a laboratory of plant physiology named after prominent academician. Academician Ahliman Amiraslanov, academician-secretary of the Department of Biology and Medical Sciences of ANAS, academician Jalal Aliyev, Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, acad. Irada Huseynova spoke about the life of academician Jalal Aliyev and his activities as a scientific organizer. Professor Julian Eaton-Rye, Secretary of the International Photosynthesis, delivered a report on "Contribution of Academician Jalal Aliyev to World Photosynthesis." Then the presentation of the award named after academician Jalal Aliyev was made by the International Photosynthesis.

At the end a documentary film about academician Jalal Aliyev was presented.
